Biting my tongue at last nights bookstudy
by GBSJG inso i went to last nights bookstudy which discusses 6 paragraphs of the daniel book so there was lots of room for comment.
the study itself already was pretty frustrating it was taken from chapter 17 paragraphs 24-29 and it goes on about how the fds has to be lead by jehovah because of all the prophecies of daniel that fits them (1335 days was this convention to that etc etc).
but the paragraphs also mention the failed prediction for 1925. here are some interresting quotes from the book: .

Is this a site for active JWs or for ex JWs?
by ><> inthere's alot of jw "bashing" here.. if you have left the org., please inform me on what it was that convinced you to depart?
we have friends that are jws and we want to know how best to deal with them.

You all have been so helpful. Everything you've all stated shows the exteme deception you've all lived, and this is just one board! I can, as could anyone, sense the pain, frustration, anger and best of all the peace you seem to have. Althought you've all left, you have ties there still with family members and friends, that keep you bounded, as it would anyone. There's the frustration!
ONe of you posted about continuing to show "love and kindness". That's interesting. I understand now, thanks to your post, the reason they are nothing more than cordial with us.

that's interesting.
care to elaborate and does this mean you no longer (if you ever did) subscribe to a belief in creationism?.

Have you read any of the recent papers of atheist Prof. Anthony Flew? Or a book entitled The Wonder of the World:A Journey From Modern Science to the MInd of God, by Varghese? Good insight to the applicaton of reconciliation between intelligent design and evolution.

Kenneson, how interesting that you found your way to the Catholic Church, I know the org. has an odd obsession (or fixation) with the Catholic Church constantly reminding it's members that they are the "Babylon II". You're obviously a smart man, not buying into the crap.

The cancer has changed my wife
by outoftheorg inwe found out that she has pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver and blood vessels.
she opted for chemo.
although we have good insurance, we still have to pay quite a bit towards the $17000.00 bill every three weeks for treatment.

Dear Sir,
My husband is a physican and I manage the office. I'm very familiar with what your experiencing and I know it isn't easy. First off, don't feel bad about not being able to remember things. It's your brain's way of say, it's taking in "overload" at this time. I'm only 40 and I forget things alot too! Tell your doctor what you're expericing..he should be able to advise you on you options on how to cope successfully. Second, there are plenty of Cancer treatment centers that can assist you with everything you mentioned. Simply call you local Cancer Society, if you haven't already and they will direct you. If you can't call, get some one to call for you to obtain information. And last, you're right about "sham" treatments. There are too many out there. Be sure to get your Drs. okay with anything you consider giving your wife, that isn't prescribed by him or another physician.
While I don't know you or your wife, I'll certainly pray for her and you too.

I know exactly what evolution is, that isn't what I was asking. The question was more about whether or not is was the JW stand in particular that got to you or was it the stand altogether?

Any and all spare funds are to go to them? Do they operate any known charity groups? Can spare funds be given to other organizations such as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, etc?

So, is your position on evolution one without any intelligent design possibility?
Was it simply their position on the matter or the position all together that was a conflict for you?

Is it just me, but does it seem that their articles are geared for people of limited intelligence?
What is the JW view on higher education? Is it encouraged?

YHWH - Ya'Wa' - revealed (Not Jehovah or Yahweh)
by hallelujah inboth the catholic and jehovah's witness anthropomorphisize yhwh, but in reality the word should be pronounced as yawa - or ya'wa'.. in ancient sanskrit, a short "a" is the default vowel.
this is not limited to sanskrit but is a universal and generic default vowel and the most common vowel sound in most languages.
the "h" simply means that the short vowel "a" is forcefully aspirated.

The Catholic Church is very clear about the wrongful use of the word "jehovah".
